What We Believe

  • God: We believe in one God who exists as a Trinity: Father, Son (Jesus Christ), and Holy Spirit. God is the creator of all things and is holy, loving, and just.
  • Scripture: W hold that the Old and New Testaments are the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God.
  • Humanity: We believe that all humanity is fallen into sin and needs a savior. Humans were created in God’s image but are separated from God by sin.
  • Salvation: We teach that salvation is a gift from God, received through grace alone, by faith alone, in Jesus Christ alone. Good works are seen as a result of salvation, not a way to earn it.
  • Jesus Christ: We believe in the virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, atoning death, bodily resurrection, and ascension of Jesus Christ. They also believe He will return to judge the living and the dead.
  • Holy Spirit: We believe the Holy Spirit is God who empowers believers to live a life dedicated to Christ.

Our History

Community Reformed Church Whiting, NJ

By 1970, a tidal wave of people moved into Crestwood, may having come from Northern NJ and Metropolitan New York. To the north, Reformed Church congregations became aware of the fact their older families were moving south and settling in Whiting. Community Reformed Church in WHiting took roots and grew as the area prospered, the fruition of Czech immigrand Miroslav (Mike) Kokes dream to build homes here for middle income retires. Sunday worthips started out in a ranted store in the Crestwood Village Marketplace. The church rapidly outgrew this facility. CRC is unique in that its congregation is mainly comprised of senior citizens, yet is a church for all ages. On September 17, 1978, our beautiful new church in its lovely wooded setting was formally dedicated and a fellowship hall was completed in 1986.

Bible Verse of the Week

“Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.”
